Most of us love a good story. And if we are mindful of it, it is easy to see how story surrounds us in how we are drawn into television, films, sports, books, and so many other things.

And for those of us who work as counselors, psychotherapists, or as other helping professionals; we may think very intentionally about how we consider and process the stories that our clients share with us. Some of us even may have been trained in techniques that utilize storytelling and metaphor as a part of therapeutic interventions.

But beyond our own interest and the practical applications we have learned, what does science and research tell us about the function and dynamics of story.

Join Dr. David Hall of PsychMaven and the Narrative Institute as he explores 3 areas of scientific research regarding narrative and metaphor in behavioral health practice.

*1 continuing education (CE) hour for behavioral health professionals will be available at the end (*NBCC approval).
